FAQs

1.How can the City be contacted after hours?

You contact Utility Billing person via email City of Moundridge or calling the City Office at 620-345-8246 and then option 1 for the Utility Billing voicemail.

2.How can I keep from having my electricity disconnected during the cold months of the year?

The City will not disconnect your electricity when the temperature is forecasted to drop below 35 degrees, or be in the mid to low 30s over the next 24 hours. The City of Moundridge has very lenient rules for keeping your utilities connected - we ask that you contact us with a workable payment date for you. This means if you give us a date and you find that isn't going to work it is very important to let us know you can't make it that day. If we don't receive contact from you and no payment is made, you are automatically put on the shut off list for the next business day.

3.What process does the City go through to notify me of a past due bill?

Starting January 1, 2015 bills will be due on the 25th of the month. On the morning of the 26th any bills not paid in full are assessed a 2% penalty. A notice is sent out that gives you another 7 full days (including weekends) to pay your bill. If your bill is still unpaid, after these 7 days, you will be put into our auto-call system and will receive a phone call to remind you we haven't heard from you. If you still don't contact or make a payment you will be put on the shutoff list for the next business day.

4.Does the City of Moundridge make payment arrangements?

Consideration is made on a case by case basis. You will need to go to the City Office at 225 S Christian Ave.

5.How does the auto-call system work?

We will attempt contact through the phone number we have on file for you. It is up to you to make sure we have good contact information. It is also important to note that the phone call you are receiving is a recorded message and the system will call you until you listen to the complete message. If you ignore the phone call, you will receive another one every 30 minutes. We typically start the phone calls at 10 a.m. and they will continue calling until 8 p.m. If the system notifies us that the number we are calling is not a working number you will get a tag with a note to call or stop by the office to update your contact information.

The City of Moundridge does not like to shut anyone's power off, but we do require that you pay your utility bills. Your City has bills that they need to pay and depends on your timely payments to make sure that the services you have come to depend on can continue without interruption.

6.Can the City trim the trees in my backyard?
