WHEREAS, Moundridge is a richly diverse community of more than 1700 residents whose roots span several centuries of immigration to this county and this city; and
WHEREAS, Moundridge's economic, social and cultural life is dependent on a healthy climate in which to live, work, raise and educate children; and
WHEREAS, Moundridge civic, cultural, and economic leaders and residents of the city desire to maintain and enhance respect for and celebration of people of all races, cultures, religious, genders, disabilities, national origins, languages and economic status.
NOW THEREFORE: as Mayor of Moundridge I encourage the citizens to advance basic respect and human dignity in every aspect of our community life. We join together to stand against bigotry, prejudice, intimidation and hatred of any kind. We will promote those goals and actions that bring us together to welcome the values and contributions of all who become a part of our community.

Celebrating 46 Years of Fair Housing
City of Moundridge
WHEREAS, THE Congress of the United States passed the Civil Rights Act of 1968, of which Title VIII declared that the law of the land would now guarantee the rights of equal housing opportunity; and
WHEREAS, THE City of Moundridge is committed to the mission and intent of Congress to provide fair and equal housing opportunities for all, and today, many realty companies and associations support fair housing laws; and
WHEREAS, THE Fair Housing groups and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have, over the years, received thousands of complaints of alleged illegal housing discrimination and found too many that have proved upon investigation to be violations of the fair housing laws; and
WHEREAS, EQUAL HOUSING OPPORTUNITY IS A CONDITION OF LIFE IN OUR City that can and should be achieved,
I, Gary Fisher Mayor of Moundridge, on behalf of its citizens, do hereby proclaim the month of April as
FAIR HOUSING MONTH
And express the hope that this year’s observance will promote fair housing practices throughout the City
