This position requires the employees to be able to perform the duties of a Moundridge Transit Bus Driver which includes curb to curb, scheduled weekly trips and special event service.  Works approximately 15-20 hours Monday - Friday.
Essential functions included in the job description may include tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics.  The list of tasks is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.
Performs pre and post trip inspections of assigned transit bus.
Operates vehicle in a manner, ensuring passenger and vehicle safety.
Cleans transit equipment and vehicles.
Assists customers on and off the transit vehicles.
Collects fares and checks passenger passes or transfers.
Understanding of:
Federal and State Traffic laws and regulations
Understanding of and the ability to perform CDL inspections
KDOT rules, regulations and requirements pertaining to rural transportation system operators.
Knowledge of:
Local community and street system
First aid and emergency procedures
Operation of transit buses and vehicles
Ability to:
Maintain a cooperative working relationship with the public and fellow employees
Maintain logs, daily schedules and various records
Be friendly, courteous and assist all passengers including passengers with wide ranges of special needs, including physical and developmental disabilities
Learn operations, services and activities of a customer service program


A high school diploma or GED equivalent and a current State of Kansas class "C" are required.  Prefer experience in diving commercial vehicles and a CPR certification.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.  Candidate must be a minimum of 21 years old and have an acceptable driving record.
